Marlon Wayne Endsley, Sr., age 45, lifelong resident of Holly Grove, died at the Stuttgart Regional Medical Center on Thursday January 25, 2007. A son of Carolyn Bowden Endsley of Holly Grove and the late Herbert G. Endsley, Marlon was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on November 21, 1961. Marlon received his formal education in the Holly Grove Schools, graduating in 1980. At age 15, he met the love of his life, Cynthia “Cindy” Miller and on May 22, 1982, she became his new bride. Later they would be blessed with two sons, Wayne and Kevin.
His zest for life and winning smile would contribute to his success as a chemical salesman for the Holly Grove Tri County Farmers Association of which he had been employed for the last four years. He served on the Marvell Academy School Board and was a 17 year veteran of the Holly Grove Fire Department. Marlon was an active member of the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an Elder and was a member of Masonic Kerr Lodge # 195.
In the community Marlon was known as a hard worker, one who believed in helping the other man and always ready with a bit of wit and humor. His reputation as a good cook was known all around, having won numerous cookoffs and on many occasion served a fine meal of fried deer steak to family and friends. He took the role of “Dad” very seriously thus spending a great amount of time supporting his boys in their sporting events and going to deer camp together. His passing will touch a great many hearts in the community and all of those left to cherish the memories of time spent together.
Marlon is survived by: his wife, Cindy Miller Endsley; two sons, Marlon Wayne Endsley, Jr. and Kevin Endsley; his Mother, Carolyn Endsley; one brother, Herbert “Bubba” Endsley and wife Kim; one sister, Debbie Moore; and his Father- and Mother-in-law, Gene and Flo Miller, all of Holly Grove.
Services are 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 28, 2007, at the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Fern Davis officiating. Burial will be in Franks Cemetery by Bob Neal & Sons of Clarendon. Pallbearers include Jared Fannon, Drew Wilson, Tyler Pettigrew, Johnathan Short, Derek Miller and Reagan Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Pettigrew, Carl Fannon, Dennis Wilson, Don West, Boyce Stokes, Beryl Hampton, Daniel Singleton, Wayne Moore, Dean Lindley, Square Hill, Elders of the Presbyterian Church, (Ruth Dearing, Doug Calloway, Janice Everett, Maxine Newby, Stanley Powell, Bill Stone) and members of Masonic Lodge # 195. Memorials may be given to Marvell Academy PO Box 277, Marvell, AR 72366, Holly Grove Presbyterian Church, 2nd & Spruce Street, Holly Grove, AR 72069 or Franks Cemetery.
