William R. "Bill" Reynolds, who has been in the banking business for 39 years, is retiring at the end of the month. All customers and friends are invited to the First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas in Holly Grove on Thurdsay, March 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for refreshments and an opportunity to wish him well.
Bill began his career after graduating from Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway. He is also a graduate of Louisiana State University's School of Banking. His first job was with Firestone in Memphis, Tenn., in the accounting and finance office. Later, he took a job at the National Bank of Commercie in Memphis and he remained in banking.
He has worked for banks in Clarendon, Marion and Hot Springs during his career. He retired to this area when he accepted a job with the Bank of Holly Grove on May 17, 1989. He and his wife, Mary Ann Gordon Reynolds, have been in Holly Grove since that time. He was president of the Bank of Holly Grove when it was acquired by First State Bank of Conway. He as still the president of the Bank of Holly Grove when the First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas purchased it in December 2005. He has served the Holly Grove branch of FNBEA as its vice president.
Bill and Mary Ann have one son, Gordon, who lives with his wife, Tena, and daughter, Ann, in Marion. Bill and Mary Ann also have a grandson, Bill, who lives in West Virginia.
