HOLLY GROVE -- Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Boy Fannon of Holly Grove will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 13.
They were married in Monroe County on June 13, 1957, and have made their home in Holly Grove since this time. Mr. Fannon is retired from farming but continues to have the reputation of having the best garden in Holly Grove and is always willing to share with his neighbors, family and friends.
Mrs. Fannon, the former Ernestine Merritt, is a graduate of Holly Grove High School and is retired from Mid-Delta Community Services. She loves to can fruits and vegetables from their garden and cook for her family.
Sonny Boy and Ernestine's marriage was blessed by four children: Wayne Fannon and wife Alicia of Dallas, Texas; Cathy Tanner of Newport; Carl Fannon and wife Angie of Holly Grove; and Lee Fannon and wife Debbie of Bryant. They are also the very proud grandparents of Beau Fannon of Los Angeles, CA; Matt Fannon of Dallas, Texas; Josh and Jenna Austin of Newport; Jared and Ashtyn Fannon of Holly Grove; and Jake Fannon of Bryant; and are great-grandparents of Carson Austin of Newport.
The Fannons will celebrate this special day with a family gathering later this summer.
