HOLLY GROVE -- Hal P. Smith Jr., 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born March 17, 1927, at Smith's Corner, near Marianna, to Hal P. and Elizabeth Johnson Smith Sr. He lived in Holly Grove 48 years, coming from Clarendon. He was a member of Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the American Legion, loved camping, fishing and wood working.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal P. and Elizabeth Johnson Smith Sr.; wife, Marie Katherine Hill Smith; one son, Christopher S. Smith; one daughter, Patricia Carlton; one brother, Don C. Smith; and one sister, Margaret Calloway.
Survivors are three sons, Hal P. Smith III and wife Phyllis of Powder Springs, Ga., Gary F. Smith and wife Connie of Brinkley, and Steven K. Smith of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Suzanne Beavers and husband David of Holly Grove and Kelly Munn and husband Kenny of Emmett; ten grandchildren, Hal P. Smith IV, Elizabeth-Ann Sparks, April Standridge, Christina Joslin, Mitchell Smith, Paul Smith, Alisha Hallum, Brandon Hodge, Kyle Munn and Cabe Munn; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jayden Huckabee, Laken Beavers, Brady, Riley and Aiden Smith, Blayne and Smith Sparks, Taylor Potts, Carlee Jo and Josh Standridge and Chaley and Cabel Hallum.
Graveside service was Saturday, Oct. 27, in Franks Cemetery, Holly Grove, with Bro. J.T. Medford officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Miller, Gene Hobbs, David Beavers, Kenny Munn, Brandon Hodge and Matthew Hodge. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Brown Funeral Home, Clarendon.
