NENA DAVIDSON BRADHAM, 89, died suddenly October 27, 2007, at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis. Mrs. Bradham, formerly of Leland, MS, was the daughter of the late Junius and Allie Baker Davidson of Holly Grove, AR.
Mrs. Bradham graduated from Arkansas College in Batesville, AR, with a degree in Education. She met her husband of 49 years, the late David Alexander Bradham, Jr. at Arkansas College. After living in Memphis during the early years of their marriage, they moved to Leland, MS. Mrs. Bradham was a very active member of the Leland Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful supporter of the Youth Programs, a Circle Chairman of The Women of the Church, and was awarded The Presbyterian Women's Lifetime Membership. While her children were young, Mrs. Bradham served as a Brownie Scout Leader and volunteered countless hours to the PTA. She and her husband traveled many, many miles supporting their children in sports and dance. She was a teacher at the Leland Elementary School for 25 years, and remained active as a volunteer tutor long after her retirement. Mrs. Bradham founded Books and Beyond, a program which provides books for under-privileged students.
Mrs. Bradham is survived by her sister, Virginia Rose Johnson, formerly of Holly Grove, AR; her three children, David Alexander Bradham III (Pat) of Anderson, SC, Ada Bradham Butler (Bill) of Memphis, and June Davidson Bradham (Darci) of Belden, MS; one son, Thomas William Bradham preceded her in death on May 28, 2006. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Neel Bradham (Lisa) of Atlanta, GA, Alicia Butler Tate (Michael) of Florence, MS, Brad Butler of Memphis, and Curt and Caile Bradham of Belden, MS, and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bradham's service will be held Thursday, November 1 at 1 p.m. at the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church in Holly Grove, AR, with a graveside service to follow at The Davidson Family Cemetery in Holly Grove. A short visitation will precede the service at 12 p.m. in the church parlor. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Leland Presbyterian Church to support the Youth Programs of the church.
