RE: Razorbacks

Then I will start a topic for ASU - I know there are plenty of other people who went to ASU, too.  I grew up in Walnut Ridge, so I'm very familiar with it....

I am not interested in the hawgs on the hill since I am a graduate from the University on the eastern side of the state. Of course, I am speaking of ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY.

How about them Indians the last two years ! ! They have been gaining strength. They were even invited to the New Orleans Bowl last year.

This is the last year the mascot will be the Indian, because the NCAA has ruled against schools with native American theme mascots. However, I believe the native American Indian family has been a very respectful trio, the chief, the maiden and the brave. What a shame money controls long-time (since back in the 1930s) symbols of colleges and universities.

How sad we won't be able to hear the chant during games or see the family in their accustomed spot on the field. Years ago the horse riding, after a touchdown was scored, was discontinued.

I didn't go to college out of high school like a lot of my classmates did. I began earning my BS in journalism when I enrolled in the Phillips County Community College (another take over by UAF after I had left PCCC) in 1987 when I was 53 years old. I was able to transfer all 64 hours I had earned at PCCC to Arkansas State University in the fall of 1989.

I graduated on August 7, 1992, at the age of 58 and I am very dedicated to ASU. So let's hear a little about ASU and I hope other alumni will respond to my posting with their thoughts about our university.

I hope the new athletic director at that other university will see fit to play sports with the other schools in Arkansas.

The Razorbacks play South Carolina today. They haven't had the best season so far. What do you think about the Razorbacks this year?
