There is an article in the Saturday, November 10, 2007, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on the religion page (5B) concerning Jane Dearing Dennis being honored by the United Methodists. It reads as follows: Jane Dennis, editor of the Arkansas United Methodist newspaper, has been named the denomination's 2007 "Communicator of the Year." Dennis received the award from the United Methodists Association of Communicators, which is a voluntary professional organization for the more than 145 professional and volunteer communicators of the church. The communicator of the year award is given to the person who best exemplifies religious communication in the United Methodist Church, the third largest religious body in the United States with nearly 8 million members. Dennis has be involved in communications for the Arkansas Annual Conference for nearly 20 years. She was described by the Rev. Steve Horswill-Johnson, director of communications for the United Methodist Board of Discipleship, as one of the demonination's most experienced communicators and "a person who has seen it and done it all." Dennis covered society and fashion news for the Arkansas-Democrat before working for the United Methodists.
