WAUKEGAN, Ill. -- West Charles Bones III, 53, of Waukegan, Illinois, formerly of Holly Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Vista Health Care Center in Waukegan.

He was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Holly Grove to West Bones II and Marsha Lee Arnold-Hudson. He was raised in Holly Grove and attended First Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. J.H. Hankin.

Mr. Bones attended the Holly Grove School System. He was a 1972 graduate of Holly Grove High School. He also attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

After leaving Fayetteville, he relocated to Waukegan where he worked for Abbott Laboratories for many years before retiring. He was a very successful landscape architect. He also owned his own landscaping business called West Care Lawn Services.

He loved collecting antiques, traveling, listening to his old records and refurbishing old things to their original state.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Diaz-Bones of Waukegan; two daughters, Dionne Diaz-Bones and Anisha Colbert and husband Brian, both of Waukegan, Ill.; his parents, West Bones II of Holly Grove, and Marsha Lee Hudson and husband Sonny of Holly Grove; three grandchildren, Caleb, Olivia, Ellani, all of Waukegan, Ill.; six sisters, Phyllis Dority of Holly Grove, Dorean Scott and husband Bryan of Little Rock, Tammy Gardner and husband Cleo of Topeka, Kan., JoEvelyn Spicer and husband Mark of Holly Grove, Constance Bones of Kansas City, Kan., and LaTrese Hampton of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Charles Bones and wife Sharon of Kansas City, Mo., DeNeal Bones and wife Bertha of Holly Grove, Gary Moore of Chicago and Kevin Bones of Memphis, Tenn.; 18 aunts, 10 uncles, 12 nieces, nine nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services
will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Holly Grove. Internment will take place at Hayes Cemetery by Branscumb Funeral Home of Brinkley. Pallbearers were Floyd Levine, Donnie Spates, Sterling Bones, Elron Bones and Monte Williams.
