obituary of Ila Burns (Shiloh/Brinkley)

BRINKLEY Ila Virginia Burns, 87, died at her home in Brinkley Thursday, May 15, 2008. She was born in Mount Ida, Ark., March 9, 1921, to W.E. Alexander and Gustava Carpenter Alexander. She married Williard Burns, a cotton farmer from Holly Grove, Dec. 14, 1935. He preceded her in death. She later worked at Wagner Electric and retired from there.

She was a loving mother and a wonderful cook and loved to feed anyone who sat at her table. She also enjoyed crocheting.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, W.E. Alexander Jr. and W.C. Alexander.

Survivors are one son, Edward Burns and wife, Martha, of Conway; one daughter, Evelyn Brown of Brinkley; five grandchildren, Randy Burns, Scott Burns, Audrey Burns, Adele Allen and Robin Ollis; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Sunday, May 18, in Shiloh Cemetery at Holly Grove with Bro. Wayne Whitson officiating. Arrangements were by Fowler Funeral Home of Brinkley. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Cemetery, Holly Grove.
