HOLLY GROVE -- Johnny Cox, 87, of Holly Grove died Sept. 13, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born May 1, 1921, to John and Ada Cox-Pete. He was the youngest of five children born to this union. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Holly Grove.
He was married to Annie Bell Pride on Oct. 16, 1943. To this union 13 children were born and will cherish his memory. He was a farmer for many years, great storyteller and multitalented. He retired from Riceland Foods and Producers after 17 years of service. He was an avid reader and loved to read a variety of books. He was extremely proud of his family and always pushed education and excellence.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Bell; children Alice, Johnny Jr., Bobby, Brenda, Jimmy, Carolyn, Terry, Johnice, Nancy, Calvin, Gregory, Darren, and Kimberly; 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, a son, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Sept. 20 at First Baptist Church in Holly Grove, with visitation on hour before services at the church.
Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Holly Grove. Arrangmeents by McNeal-Calahan Funeral Home of Brinkley.
