news related to former HG resident Cheryl Sain Leslie

Many Holly Grove folks will remember the Sain family (Tom, Georgia and children Sandra, Cheryl, Randy and Christie). Cheryl was my age and we kept in touch even after they moved to St. Charles, then Pine Bluff, and later during college years and after. I thought those who know and remember her would want to be aware of the death of her husband.

Cheryl Sain Leslie's husband, John, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, one day before his 52nd birthday. Cheryl and John had been married 22 years and have two daughters, Kate (a sophomore at Oklahoma Univ. in Norman) and Susan (a senior in high school).

John was diagnosed with bladder cancer 6 years ago and had been able to maintain a full and basically uninterrupted life until about 1 month ago, when he had to stop working (for Farm Bureau) and had to give up his beloved golf. Through it all and til the end he exhibited a strong faith in God.

His body has been donated to the University of Texas Southwestern for the purpose of bladder cancer research.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Oct. 4, in Aledo, Texas, where they live.

John Leslie, aged 51, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 26, 2008, after a six-year battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cheryl, and his two daughters, Kate and Susan, of Aledo, Texas. John's body was donated to UT Southwestern's willed body program in hopes of one day finding a cure for bladder cancer.

Visitation will be held at the Leslie home at 1452 Woodridge, Aledo, Texas on Friday, October 3rd from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Christian Bible Church (4936 E I-20, Willow Park, TX) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the name of John Leslie to Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 500, Ft. Worth, Texas, 76107  or UT Southwestern Medical Center, Office of Development, P.O Box 910888, Dallas, Texas 75391, in support of bladder cancer research.
