HOT SPRINGS Paul E. Catlett, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2009. He was born on May 4, 1928, to Henry and Flossie Catlett in Clarendon, Ark. He grew up in Clarendon along with six brothers and one sister.
Paul graduated from Clarendon High School and attended Arkansas Tech. In 1952 he graduated from the College of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas with a degree in Entomology and was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. From 1953 to 1962 he worked with the U of A Cotton Branch Experiment Station. Paul later moved to Clarendon and worked for 37 years for Farm Bureau Insurance Company as Agency Manager in Monroe County until his retirement in 1999. He was very accomplished in the insurance business and won many company awards and recognitions.
Paul was a 32nd Degree Mason, attended lodge in both Holly Grove and Clarendon and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hot Springs. He was very active in his life, enjoyed the Razorbacks, entertaining friends and family on his party barge and enjoyed his time at his cabin Poor Boys Paradise on East Lake.
Paul is survived by his wife, Glenda R. Catlett of Hot Springs; his son, Mike Catlett and wife Brenda of Burdette, Ark.; stepson, Neil Cate of Conway; and brother, Tom Catlett and wife Estelle of Clarendon, Ark.; grandchildren, Lindsey Abney and husband Ken of Fayetteville, Rachel Catlett of Fayetteville, Ben Catlett and wife Sara of Bonita Springs, Fla., Jake Catlett of Jonesboro, Brandi Fletcher of Little Rock, Sara Cate of Hooks, Texas and Trans Cate of Conway; and great-grandchildren, Luke Abney, Ella and Jack Catlett. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Chuck Catlett.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2009, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon. Funeral arrangements by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home-Clarendon. Pallbearers include, Alvin Lindley, Jimmy Reynolds, Curtis Clatworthy, Donnie Williams, Bruce Williams, Ronnie Killingsworth, Bobby Lott and Bill Bateman.
