HOLLY GROVE -- Blonzia Jewel Love, 82, of Holly Grove, died March 9, 2009, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Holly Grove to Wyne Bryant and Idella Williams-Bryant. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Holly Grove. During her tenure at St. Paul, she served as Stewardess, Secretary/Treasurer, Choir Member, Missionary Society and Director of "YPD" Young People Department.
She received her education from the Holly Grove School System. She attended and received a degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock in 1950. She was a resident of Chicago, Illinois, for many years, where she was employed as a lab technician for Michael Reece Hospital for more than 20 years. Later she relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she was employed by the V.A. Medical Center for more than 15 years before returning to Holly Grove to retire.
She was an avid sports football fan. Her two favorite teams were always the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears. She loved traveling, working with children and watching her soap operas and game shows on television.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Love; and seven siblings, Minnie Theresa Bryant, Robena Holmes, Inez B. Smith, Erma Jean Wyler, Thomas Bryant, Hazel Bryant and Theopolis Bryant.
Survivors are two brothers, W.D. and Darlene Bryant and Gregory A. Bryant, all of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Ethel Williams of Holly Grove; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held March 14 at St. Paul AME Church in Holly Grove with Rev. Scot A. Tyler officiating. Internment was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Clarendon by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley. Pallbearers were Darnell Smith Jr., Andrew Wylie, Luther Nunn, Dwight Bryant, Cameron Huckabee and Steve Tyler.
