Rev. J. Hillman Byram, 82, of Conway, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Born in Izard County, on June 2, 1927, he was a son to the late Jordan A. and Nola (Gilland) Byram. Rev. Byram had been a United Methodist minister for over 61 years, serving 53 churches in the North Arkansas Conference and was past minister of Wesley United Methodist Church in Conway. He earned his BS at Arkansas College (Lyon) and his Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University. He was a member of the Navy M.A.R.S. for over 45 years and the Faulkner County Amateur Radio Club and was a Navy Veteran.
His parents and a brother, Duane Byram, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie (Wiles) Byram; sons Tom (Bonnie) Byram of College Station, Texas, and Don (Cecile) of Watkinsville, GA; five grandchildren, Hannah, Joseph, Mary, George and Charlotte, and numerous friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Conway with Rev. David Hoffman officiating. The interment service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery in Violet Hill, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 27 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark., Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church in Conway or Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church in Izard County.
