From the Nov. 19, 2009, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette:
HOLLY GROVE - Marilynn Hess Jackson was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Morrilton, Ark., and lived most of her life in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Holly Grove, Ark. She has lived in Overland Park, Kan., and Lenexa, Kan., since 1992. Marilynn died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Nov. 11th, and her loving children were with her over the last week of her life on earth.
Marilynn is survived by four children, Rose Calloway and husband Jerry, Ron Jackson and wife Wanda, Jon Jackson, and Nannette Richardson and husband Terry; five grandchildren, Stephanie Wildman and husband Patrick, Jason Calloway and wife Shannon, Michael Calloway and wife Erin, Kevin Richardson and wife Mandy, and Shelly Fletcher and husband Jeff; and seven beautiful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger brother Frank Hess and many nephews and nieces.
We will miss her love of life, her immense strength of character, and her gracious southern charm. She was indeed an inspiration to all of us. The family wishes to thank Kansas City Hospice House for their wonderful care during her last week on earth.
It is noteworthy that a family reunion and her 90th birthday celebration were held in Overland Park, Kan., in August 2008 when over 65 family members came to honor her as a true matriarch.
A memorial service was held Monday, November 16th, at Christ Church Anglican in Overland Park, Kan., and Marilynn will be interned Saturday, November 21st, at 11 a.m. in Macedonia Cemetery in Holly Grove, Ark., by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
We commit our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to our Lord. Respectfully, The Family of Marilynn Hess Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the MS Society, 1100 North University, Suite 255, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.
