Sad News - Passing of Leroy Davis

I received an email from Shirley-Davis Locke yesterday letting me know her father passed away.  She wanted me to post the funeral information for people who knew him.    Here is her email:

....On Tuesday, June 8, 2010, my Father Leroy Davis passed away at a nursing home in Marianna Arkansas.  My father I'm sure is well known by many as one of the best farmers from way back in the good days.  My father was first employed with the Railroad.  For the love of farming, he moved to Blackton Arkansas on Demonstration (The Bateman's Farm at that time) where he and my mother produced their off-springs that include; Larry G Davis(Janis) Leroy Davis Jr, Christine Davis-Martin(Orville), Clarence Davis(deceased), Jewestine Davis-Robinson(Johnny), Lenora Davis-Miller(Bill), Shirley A Davis-Locke(Robert), Emma Davis-Polk-Johnson(Chester), Albert Davis, Van A Davis(Debra) Linda Ruth Davis-Smith(Lafayette), and Paul E Davis(Danita).   He worked with other great farmers such as the Batemans, Lawrence Coleman who's brother Peedo Coleman owned a grocery store, Tommy Calloway, Harold who's last name I believe was Bennett, (one of Tommy Calloway's workers), Humpty Stiles and many other great workers such as Ray Fluker, June Fluker, Joe fluker, Clifton Fluker, Joe Billup, my uncle Sambo Pride, and many others.  My Father grew the best crop of watermelon, corn, peas, peanuts, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cabbage etc; anything that you could grow in a garden he grew very well.  Not to mention Hogs, cattle and ponies that he raised.  He made people welcome to come to the fields of corn, patches of watermelon and gardens and help themselves to anything and as much as they wanted free of charge.  Those were the good ole days.  Later my father moved to Highway 366 where he owned land that was first owned by my maternal grandparents Richard and Mae Ella Lowry Brown.  At this time he worked with other farmers such as Robert Bennett and his son Roger Bennett who took over when his father retired.  We would just like to let everyone know that any one who would like to attend my father's funeral service is much welcome to do so and help us celebrate his home going.  His funeral service will be held on:
