The Holly Grove Fire Department was proud to unveil a new fire truck Wednesday, July 13.
The fire truck was purchased in January and was received July 1. The vehicle saw action once this month when it was used to put out a grass fire, said fireman DeWayne Lammers.
Rural Development awarded the City a grant of about $98,000 to help with the purchase. The Arkansas Forestry Commission also gave a zero percent interest loan of $25,000 to help with the purchase, said council members J.T. Richardson and Don Dearing.
"It was really a community effort because another $25,000 came solely from private donations. Without those donations we would not have had enough money," said Dearing.
"The Bank of Holly Grove thanks all of the contributors who helped make this a reality," said Bill Reynolds, Bank of Holly Grove President. The Bank of Holly Grove provided the interim financing for the project.
