-J.E. Williams has moved into the J.O. Sweatt residence, on 3rd Street, in north H.G. and seems to be very comfortably situated.  He planted his garden quite a while before he moved and has a good garden.

-R.G. Peete is hanging paper for Mrs. Nelie Morris.  She is having three or four rooms papered.

-South H.G. is still on a boom.  D.B. Renfro is having the fencing all white washed and he Atkins new residence is now under the builder’s push and will very soon be a place of residence.

-George Johnson, with his family, moved to H.G. last Monday.  They are comfortably domiciled in the Dr. Sylar residence.  Mr. J. has a nice place to live and is in a pleasant neighborhood of good people.  We welcome Mr. Johnson and family to our town.

-C.L. Medearis will build Wm. A. Owens new dwelling on south Smith Street.  The building is to be completed by April first.

-W.T. Owens has moved into the house vacated by the Webb family.  This is the Earnest Kerr property.  The house vacated by Mrs. Owens will be occupied by Mr. J.O. Sweate who has bought the place from Mr. Brit Ables.  Drease Cox and family will move into the place known as the McManus place but now belonging to Mr. John Mayo, and Mrs. Nelie Morris will occupy the place vacated by Mr. Cox – a good deal of moving all at once.
-There are very few house for rent in H.G. while there is quite a demand for such houses.

-Will Mayo will move from Duncan back to H.G. and will occupy his own residence which Dr. Carter has just vacated.

-J.A. Walls has added several new houses in east H.G. in the way of tenant houses and new barns.  It takes enterprise, vim, and money to build and make a town and some newspaper advertising as well.

-John Mayo is putting a nice picket fence around his McManus place
-Walk Patterson is putting up a nice picket fence around his home in H.G.
-J.B. Taylor has just completed a neat and very substantial poultry wire fence around his garden.  Chickens can neither fly over or go through it….
-Will Mayo has moved back from Duncan and his family is comfortably domiciled in his nice, comfortable dwelling just west of the Mrs. Olivia Washington home
-I.L Pride had the misfortune to lose two of his tenant houses by fire on his plantation one day last week.  Suppose the origin of the fire was accidental coupled with a bit of carelessness.
-E.E. Trotter has enclosed his beautiful home with a nice picket fence.  Mr. Ed has one of the prettiest homes in the town

-J.E. Williams, who has been living in south H.G. for the last 3 or 4 months occupying the Dick Chism residence has moved into the J.W. Sweat house in north H.G.

-Fred R. Atkins has bought a nice building plat of ground and is now having it enclosed with a picket fence.  He will erect a commodious and comfortable residence in the near future.  This is in South H.G.  Mr. Atkins will be surrounded with nice people who live in neat, cozy houses
-Misses Bess and Nannie Johnson have had quite a nice lot of work done about the home.  They made a new garden and a new picket fence in front of the yard and the yard and residence white washed, etc.

-The old house on the lot south of Mr. Abramson’s store is being moved to near the Dan Dial Gin, in the west part of H.G., just outside of the corporate limits of the town

-Mr and Mrs. Wm. O’Bannum have rented a house and are now keeping house.  Mrs. O’Bannum has a music class.  H.G. will be famous for music in the near future, as four new pianos have been placed in the homes of the families of H.G. during the last weeks of June.
-George Bryant of Clarendon will move into and occupy the Fincher house.

-Mrs. T.G. Trice is having the long porch on the south side of her banqueting hall nicely screened which adds much to the looks and convenience of the place and gives much more room.
-Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Trotter will, in a few days, be comfortably domiciled in their beautiful new home.

-Mr. Bud Franks has added a new room to his residence.
-Britt Ables is having his house, occupied by Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Owens family, recovered.

-South H.G. is on a boom.  Four new houses have just been completed in that part of town.
-H.B. Lusk – your Midland agent, has moved with his family into the nice residence just completed by Mr. J.I. Matthews, our banker at H.G.
-J.H. Fincher has moved his family back to his home in H.G. from the Madden Bridge Heading Factory and Mr. George Bryant, who was occupying the Fincher house, is now occupying the Dr. Sylar residence which was vacated by Mr. H.B. Lusk.

-T.S. Kerr has just finished papering Mr. Britt Ables’ home and Mr. Ables and family now have a real comfortable and lovely home.

-Dr. T.D. Chunn’s folks have just finished a good, neat picket fence around their yard which adds much to the appearance of the place.
-Contractor Youngblood has about completed the E.E. Trotter residence and will begin the foundation of a nice residence for D.B. Renfro, Jr. at once.  Mr. D.B. has been prevailed upon the build a nice, five-room cottage for Prof. Owens, who will come to H.G. to take charge of the public school at this place in Sept.  There was not a house in the town that Prof. Owens could rent to live in and the Board of Directors are very thankful to Mr. Renfro for his public enterprise in building a house for this purpose.  No enterprise will pay better in the town of H.G. than nice cottages to rent.  We know whereof we speak.

H.G. on a Boom
“Messrs. John W. Renfro, J.I. Matthews, and J.D. Parker will build nice residences all south of the R.R.  Also Messrs. E.E. Trotter and D.B. Renfro are among the building boomers.  We will have five nice residences all in a few months – by the 1st of Sept.  We already have East H.G. and this will be the beginning of South H.G.  A.M. Patterson will also build a residence some time in the Fall.

-"Mr. and Mrs. H. Johnson will move this week into the Matthews property recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Julian.  Mr. Matthews had the house newly papered and had made quite a lot of improvements on the place."

-Col. W.T. Smith has sold J.E. Williams a nice lot for building purposes near Mr. Smith's residence in south Holly Grove


-South Holly Grove is the only part of our town that seems to be doing any improvement now.  Mr. Renfro is building a nice picket fence from R. Abramson's store down to the south line of the corporation.
