-The fish law, being quite drastic in regard to game fish, the fish market offers to substitute with very large and fine frogs.  I can’t say much from experience as to their being very excellent as a delicacy, but I can testify to the fact that there never was more (?) time for cat fish, mud turtles, and frogs than now.

-A large quantity of fish are being taken from the lakes West of H.G. now.  Great multitudes of people, both white and colored, congregate along the lakes day and night trying their luck as fishermen.

-Judge Trice, Walter Taylor, R.B. Hall and others have caught so many fish during the last two weeks that they can’t give them away.  Tis about the first time that H.G. was every really gorged on game fish.

-Judge T.G. Trice, the champion fisherman of H.G. caught an abundance of fish last Saturday.  So great was his catch that he divided with the most of his neighbors.

-Seems to be a fine season for the fish to bite.  Fishing parties go to the lake fishing every day and come in with all the fish that they can carry.
-Judge Trice and a few other men went down on the lake fishing one day last week and by the middle of the afternoon they had caught more than one hundred pounds of the nicest speckle pearch that this correspondent has had the privilege of seeing in many years.

-The bird hunters of Holly Grove and vicinity regret that the bird hunting season has closed.  But they should not worry, plow-time will soon be here.
