-The Rev. C.W. Johnson, the Presbyterian minister, held Thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church on Thanksgiving night.  Had a good attendance and a good service.  We are highly pleased with our new Presbyterian minister and hope that he will be the means of building up the church and adding many to the membership of the church.
-Thanksgiving was observed among the people of H.G. and all had a turkey and cranberries who could procure them.  Nothwithstanding the stringency of money, everybody seemed to have plenty to eat and some to divide with others.  There is prevalent among us a feeling of good will to all mankind the world over; that we can thank God for peace and prosperity still, despite the Wall Street scare.

-Mrs. R. Abramson, Jr., entertained Monday night with a ghost party.  The girls all gathering at the home and were made into ghosts before the young men arrived, then the young men being transformed into moving spirits, they proceeded to move about town in mysterious ways.  All gathering back to the Abramson home about ten thirty.  Their masks were removed and the crowd was entertained by music and various games until a midnight lunch was announced.  Hot tamales and chili were served, also delightful fruits.  All present will always remember the charming hostess and her sister for the well spent evening.

-There was very little attention paid Thanksgiving at H.G.  None of the business houses were closed save the P.O.  We did not see or hear of any Thanksgiving turkeys in H.G.

-"The first 'white Christmas' in several years.  The trees were loaded with ice and sleet and everything looked so pretty.  Dear old Santa made his visit this Christmas in his sleigh and drove his reindeer.  We hope he was good to everybody."

Christmas Programs Fill Last Week of School
"Traditional Christmas programs have filled this last week in school before dismissing for the holidays.  In the fifth period Friday, the Student Council sponsored a religious program in the high school assembly.  A Girl's Glee Club Christmas program, sponsored by Mrs. Mayola McDougal, was presented to the high school classes at 2:15 Thursday.  The girls were dressed in red and white and held glowing tapers as they sang traditional Christmas Carols.  Mrs. McDougal gave her annual Christmas music recital Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock.  Several skits and acts gave variety to the program."
