I have two main memories of the HG Horse Show: one was my being a trophy presenter along with a bunch of other girls who sat in a little box on folding chairs in our formals or dressy dresses and how we constantly sprayed with OFF! in order to fend off the mosquitoes. I remember mosquitoes getting up under the net overlay on the skirts of our dresses! The presenters were from all the area towns and I especially remember little Munnie Raspberry from Helena because she was so cute and petite. For many years I had a picture of my presenting Mr. Paul Raines of Memphis his trophy. It was always hot and muggy but the beautiful horses, especially the Tennessee Walking Horses, made it a great show. I also remember Frances Jane Anderson, Miss Arkansas, singing the national anthem at one of the shows.
