RE: Civic and Community organizations

The Holly Grove Improvement Association was organized in the late 1970s to support and preserve the town, its history, and architecture. One of its primary accomplishments was getting Holly Grove's downtown named to the National Register of Historic Places and the construction of the pedestrian mall, where the railroad tracks ran through town.

At the time the mall was first proposed, the Association's leaders included:

Steering Committee: Ruth Dearing, June Davidson, Jack Phillips, Ralph Abramson
Finance Chairman: Jean Kirkpatrick
Publicity Chairman: Martha Dearing
Native Son Committee: Mr. and Mrs. Ellis King
Flea Market Chairman: Betty Gilbrech
Golf Chairman: Bennie Johnson
Bass Tournament Chairman: Louis Smith
Fish Fry Chairman: Betty Sain

Civic & Community organizations

Who can list or share information about some of the civic and community organizations that have existed in Holly Grove? Here are a few:

Holly Grove Rotary Club
Holly Grove Women's Club
Holly Grove Improvement Association
Holly Grove American Legion, Sammy Feldman Post
Holly Grove Homecoming Club

These are just a few off the top of my head. Who knows and remembers others?
