Phoenix, Ariz. -- Cecil Marion Sanders, 60, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Scottsdale Health Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was born July 28, 1946, in Holly Grove to James Cecil and Mildred Virginia Breeding Sanders. He lived in Phoenix 34 years, coming from Austin, Texas, and was Missionary Baptist by faith.
Mr. Sanders was a program integrator and technical lead for the Defense Contract Management Agency. He served as a captain in the United States Army, where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, one Overseas Bar, and the Bronze Star Medal.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Cecil Sanders, and a brother, William Robert Sanders.
Survivors are his mother, Mildred Virginia Sanders of Holly Grove, and a sister, Pat Brittain and husband, Thomas, of Matthews, N.C.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnathan Mertens officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Clarendon.
