Alfred Jerome Polk, 44, of Sherwood, formerly of Holly Grove, died Wednesday, June 20 at his home.
He was born September 9, 1962, in Holly Grove, the son of Blonzie Wilbon and the late Jewel Polk Sr. He was an active lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Holly Grove. He was a 1981 graduate of Holly Grove High School. He also attended and received an associate degree from Shorter College in North Little Rock. He was employed for many years with the Kroger Food Store. He also worked with the United States Postal Service in Little Rock for several years. He was a fan of basketball, softball and different types of music. His passions were cooking, specifically barbecue, antique cars and spending time with his children. He also loved spending time with his mother and his other siblings.
Three brothers, Ausedo Piggee, Luster Wilbon and Sherman Polk, and a sister, Estella Polk, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Markel Polk and Alvin Polk, both of North Little Rock; a daughter, Monique Polk, of North Little Rock; six brothers, Joe and wife Wilma, Wilbon and Bill Polk, both of Chicago, Ill.; Jewel Polk Jr. of Little Rock; Anthony Dewayne Polk of Irvin, Texas; Duran Polk of Holly Grove; and Christopher Polk of Stuttgart; eleven sisters, Annette and husband Howard, Walker and Jeanette Davis, both of Detroit, MI; Ramonia Smith and Ethel Jean Wilbon, both of Houston, Texas; Cora Wilbon and Veronica and husband David Booth, both of Little Rock; Dorothy and husband Gregory Leverette of West Bloomfield, MI; Shirley Polk, Kimberly Polk and Bobbie and husband Theodois Young, all of Holly Grove; and Myra Polk of Fayetteville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Branscumb Funeral Chapel, 911 North Main St. in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 30 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Mimosa Street, in Holly Grove, with Reverend Fred Abram Jr. officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery at Holly Grove by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
Pallbearers are Dennis Wilson, Kenneth Reed, Willie Joe Wilbon, Marcus McFee, Anthony DeWayne Polk and Billy Ray Smith Jr.
