Back in the 30s and 40s when I was growing up in Holly Grove I remember soaping the windows down town on Halloween night. Writing on the sidewalks with chalk. Some of the business owners would give is little trinket favors for the fun of it and the drug store, the one your great, great, great grandmother owned would give us single dip ice cream cones.
Of course we had to have costumes and masks for our faces.
The postings on the board tonight are really arousing some deep feelings in me. I just can't share them right now, too many of the people are gone. Maybe in the future.
I have to say that I'm pretty crazy about her. She really is so smart - talks so well for a 2 1/2 year. People are amazed about how old she is after they meet her. Can you tell I'm a proud aunt?
My sister and my niece (Katelyn) came out to my house for Halloween this year. Katelyn was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She is 2 1/2 years old. We tried to get her to say "trick or treat" at each house we went to, but the only thing she would say was "Hello! I need more candy!" Because she was so cute (and I know I'm biased), I wanted to post a few photos of her here. Does anyone have any cute Halloween photos and/or stories of the kids in your life?
