Jill - I scanned this newspaper photo from the June 10, 1981, Clarendon Sentinel, which covered the Holly Grove Spring Festival. I thought you'd like to see this photo of you as a little girl and your grandmother, Mittie Crow. Jane
Did you know my granny, Mittie Crow? If so, I'd love to hear about her as well. She and grandpa Bruce died when I was pretty young. I remember her as being elegant. But she would spank me with a flyswatter when needed! I remember baking my Grandpa Bruce a heart-shaped cake...with my EZ Bake oven. He seemed to enjoy it! LOL
I left Holly Grove in 1948 and didn't know too many people there after that but in reference to Marvin Gerlach' message above(his mothrer was my 1st cousin) I knew Bruce crow well( he owned that service station on the road to Duncan) because he was my cousin also. Ralph E. Hall Capt USAF Retired> They were great people.
Thank you to all who have replied. I enjoy hearing information about my father. My Aunt Floye lives in Savannah, Georgia now. She has three grandbabies, Emma, Kadin and Jacob. I am now married to Donald Coffman, Jr. We just celebrated our first anniversary. My son is ten. His name is Nicolas Alan Hollowell, after my Dad. Please keep sending the comments. I enjoy reading them all. Thanks!!!
Jill I knew your dad growing up. He was two years younger than me. I don't know if I can help much but I will try. Your grandmother married Bruce Crow and moved to Holly Grove in the 1960s with her children Floy Dean and Alan Hollowell. Holly Grove was a small friendly town and Floy and Alan both quickly became friends with all the kids in town. Your dad was laid back and a little on the serious side. He had no vices growing up to my knowledge. He was just the All American boy. He played football when I was a senior and he was a sophomore and was a good football player. I grew up south of Holly Grove and your mother's family was our neighbors. I rode the school bus every day with your mother.
Jill, I don't know that I would know any "past information" but I remember your Dad. He was in high school when I was in elementary school at HG, and he didn't live too far from us when he lived in town (we could see his backyard from the front of our house). He was tall, slender and blonde as a teen-ager. I remember you as a little girl. -- Jane Dearing Dennis
