HOLLY GROVE Patrick Eugene East, 38, of Holly Grove, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

He was born Oct. 11, 1969, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Ronald East and Bobby Cox. "Pat," as he was affectionately known, was a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Grove, Arkansas. He was a 1987 graduate of Holly Grove High School.

He served in the U.S. Army. He served his country and achieved the rank of Specialist Four (Spec 4); he was a sergeant. He received an honorable discharge after serving 12 years in the service.

He was employed as a Line Operator with Lennox Industries Inc. in Stuttgart for more than 10 years.

He was a huge sports fan. He loved football and boxing in particular. He was also a very family- and friend-oriented person. He loved all family functions and keeping up with current events.

His paternal grandparents, Leon and Mary East, preceded him in death.

Survivors are his parents, Bobby (Larry) Lewis of Chicago, Ill., and Ronald (Ruth) East of Little Rock; his companion, Christine Flowers of Holly Grove; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cox Sr. of Holly Grove; three brothers, James Cox of Dallas, Texas, Gordon Cotton of Kansas City, Kans., and Carlos (Shawn) Strickland Sr. of Little Rock; a sister, Mary (Greg) Tucker of Little Rock; uncles Johnny Cox Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif, Jimmy Cox and Darren Cox, both of Dallas, Calvin (Sonya) Cox and Gregory Cox and Thomas (Phyllis) East, all of Little Rock; aunts Alice Cox, Brenda Coleman and Carolyn Franklin, all of Holly Grove, Johnice Cox and Kimberly Cox, both of Los Angeles, and Nancy Cox of Dallas; nephews Braelon and Carlos II; nieces Maija, Erin, Sydnee and Madison, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, at First Baptist Church in Holly Grove with Rev. Scot Tyler officiating. Internment was in Hayes Cemetery at Holly Grove by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.

Pallbearers were Rev. Dennis W. Wilson, Irwin Brown, Johnny Finney, Steven Tyler, Michael Berry and Charles Powell.
