My favorite occurred in either 1965 or 1966 when a group of us picked up Ms. Bobbi Willingham's Volkswagon and took it in the front door of the high school and set it at the top of the stairs in the main entrance. She later married my cousin "Square Hill". She was one of the favorite all-time teachers of my class.
I remember that. One Holloween my friend that I will not name and I painted the population sign to say 20,000. The rest of the Halloweens were spent in Marvell terrorizing them and running from the police. Sharon
On hot nights, there was one or two big fans (with 100 lb blocks of ice in front of them) blowing on the movie goers. One night, the movie house was full - white people downstairs and black people upstairs. Several of the teenage boys knew something special was going to happen, but we didn't know exactly what. Willie Bob Parks came up the alley to just behind a big fan and broke a pint bottle of ammonia behind the fan. The fumes filled the movie house. Someone upstairs yelled out "Fire!" and the movie house emptied out fast. The boys that knew about the prank went out by the fan and into the alley. We just rolled on the ground laughing. They never did find out who threw the ammonia bottle! -Bob Lambert

I was talking to my Aunt Shirley this weekend and she told me about several pranks that kids pulled over the years on Halloween. One of the stories was about several kids putting an outhouse in front of the Bank of Holly Grove with a sign on it that "Deposits made here". Another story she told me about happened when my grandmother was a kid. Several students took apart a wagon and reassembled it inside a room at the school. What Halloween pranks do you remember?
