Holly Grove Spring Festival

Does anyone have any memories of the Holly Grove Spring Festival? I found a news clipping that announced the "fourth annual" Spring Festival in June 1981 -- so I guess that would make the first one in 1978. It was an event sponsored by the Holly Grove Improvement Association and helped fund the installation of the downtown pedestrian mall and gazebo. Some of the activities included a fish fry, a bluegrass music concert, arts and crafts sale, bake sale, art exhibit,  specia displays, drawings and giveaways.

Tommy Hargrove, president of the Bank of Holly Grove, was festival chairman in 1981. Billy Brooks was mayor.

Among the sponsors of the 1981 event were R. Abramson Co., Byers Tastee Treat, West Dairy Bar, Jeff Calloway Inc., Delta Service Station, Silver Moon Grocery, Ruth Howard Cafe, Roy Hicks Cafe, Brown Lumber Co., Bank of Holly Grove, Williamson's Grocery, Manes Liquor, Mrs. Betty Gilbrech's Shop, The Farm Store, Franks Grocery, Holly Tree, Brooks Drug Store, Wong's Food Mart, Peyton's Auto Supply and Service Station, Johnson's Mercantile, and Chism's Barber Shop.
